Surface Go 3 Display and Looks:

Looks like it’s the same Surface Go 2 and Microsoft doesn’t change anything in display or design. The Surface Go 3 also features a modern rounded chassis with curvey corners and thin bezels.

The magnesium-coated shell looks good and the Platinum colors look classy as well.  Dimension wise It’s got the same 9.7 x 6.9 x 0.3-inch shell as the previous model and is very lightweight just 1.2 lb.

And just like the surface pro models it also supports the optional Microsoft Type Cover keyboard that’s sold separately.

On the right side, we have a USB type C port, a surface power connect port to charge your device. On the top, we have the power button and the volume key.

At the bottom, there is a keyboard connector and in the LTE model, you find a sim card slot on the left-hand side. The back 8MP and front 5MP  cameras are the same as the previous generation. We also have an option to insert a micro SD card.

On the front, we have a 10.5-inch Pixelsense display that supports 1920X1080 pixels with 220 pixels per inch. The aspect ratio is 3:2 and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Apart from these, we have 2-watt stereo speakers that support Dolby Audio and Enhanced dual far-field Studio Mics to capture every moment in detail during a conversation.

Storage, Connectivity, and Performance:

Surface Go 3 is a lightweight dual-purpose tablet so the storage is less compared to other models and if you want more storage then you should go for the Surface Pro 8 which offers more RAM and Storage.

There are 4GB or 8GB RAM options available with 64 GB e-MMC storage and 128 GB SSD storage respectively. The RAM is LPDDR3.

By far the biggest upgrade In the processor section where Microsoft goes with the Intel Pentium Dual-Core Gold Y6500 processor and you can upgrade to an Intel Core i3-10100Y, so both options are two generations ahead of the Surface Go 2’s Intel Pentium Gold 4425Y and 8th Gen Intel Core m3 processors.

While obviously, the i3 runs much faster than the Pentium Gold but you have to pay almost 230 bucks extra for the i3 model.

On the connectivity section, we have the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 to provide reliability and speed at the same time. You can easily connect your favorite headphone or game controller.

Camera, Battery Life and Security:

One of the big benefits of the Surface Go 2 was its sharp 5-megapixel webcam and 8- megapixel rear cam which is by far the best in this price range.

There is no change in the camera section, the Surface Go 3 also features the same pair of lenses so you get even better quality outputs because this time cameras are operated by windows 11.

According to Microsoft the new Surface Go 3 provides 11 hours of battery backup in a typical usage scenario, so this means we have an even better backup from our surface go.

The Microsoft Surface Go 3 is integrated with a Firmware TPM chip for enterprise-grade security and It uses the Windows Hello face sign-in to unlock your system without typing the password.

Surface Go Type Cover:

Microsoft has updated the newest Surface Go Type Covers with the new Windows 11 logo on the Start button. The type cover is Sleek, compact, adjustable, and performs like a traditional, full-size keyboard.

The keys are responsive and the cover features a wide trackpad made easy for clicking. You can type confidently and navigate precisely with Surface Go Type Cover.

It’s built with the best of Microsoft technology and includes a full keyset, backlit keys, optimum spacing for fast, fluid typing, and a large glass trackpad.

Surface Go Type Cover is uniquely designed to adjust to virtually any angle, letting you work comfortably wherever you are.
Simply click into place and use three different ways with Surface Go  Kickstand open as a laptop, folded back for a tablet, or closed to shield the display and conserve battery life.

Surface Go Type Cover goes beyond traditional keyboards to add a warm, elegant touch to everyday tasks. It features a soft, smooth feel. It’s also durable and stain-resistant, so it easily wipes clean.

Surface Pen:

The Surface Go 3 also uses the older Surface Pen design, not the Surface Slim Pen or Surface Slim Pen 2. The Surface Pen can magnetically attach to the side of the tablet, though it will not wirelessly charge there, and the battery will need to be replaced around once a year.

Writing and drawing with Surface Pen feels natural, with precision ink on one end and a rubber eraser on the other. Tilt the tip to shade your sketches just like you would with a graphite pencil.

You can precisely sketch and shade with 4,096 pressure points that respond to the lightest touch. Ink flows from the tip to your screen with virtually no lag, and the rubber eraser makes mistakes disappear. You can also rest your hand on the screen while you write as you would with a sketchbook.

Compose a symphony, make an animated short, take notes, and draw 3D CAD designs. Use Surface Pen with apps designed for creativity like OneNote, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Drawboard PDF, StaffPad, CorelDRAW, and more. Surface Pen also pairs with Surface Dial for the full creative experience.

Bluetooth Mouse Nightfall Camo Special Edition:

To easily access your device and operate with the freedom you can use the Bluetooth mouse instead of the touchpad. There are multiple options available but the great choice is the new Nightfall camo special edition Bluetooth mouse from Microsoft.

It has the following features…

  • Compact, modern design fits comfortably in your hand.
  • With three buttons—left, middle wheel button, and right.
  • Fast-tracking sensor for smooth tracking on most surfaces.
  • Precise navigation work across documents and websites with a dedicated scroll wheel.
  • Up to 12 months of battery life.
  • Connects to your Windows 11 Home/Pro and Windows 10 laptop via Bluetooth® 5.0 LE. Connect to your Windows PC right out of the box when you enable Swift Pair.

Should you Go for Surface Go 3?

In this price range, the Microsoft Surface Go 3 is one of the best dual-purpose tablets which you can buy for your personal and home use. Microsoft says it’s an excellent PC for students looking to complete schoolwork at home or school.

Its small size makes it a great PC for fitting into a backpack, and the optional Type Cover accessory gives the Surface Go 3 the versatility of turning it into a laptop when required for writing essays or doing research.

Both the Pentium Gold and i3 processor are a great inclusion for surface go and it helps the device utilize all the great features of Windows 11.

The Pentium Gold 6500Y and the Core i3-10100Y are dual-core with four threads, and they both have a 5W TDP. The Core i3 has a higher clock speed at 1.3GHz instead of 1.1GHz and has a higher graphics max frequency of 1GHz instead of 900MHz.

Other than a great display the Surface Go 3 has a great webcam for video calls, and a headphone jack if you wish to plug in your headphones to listen to music or watch a video while you work.

So keeping the price in mind it’s a good device to start your surface journey where you taste all the sweetness of a Windows device with Windows 11 inside.

Ok all right now I want to hear from you guys, what do you think of Surface Go 3? What’s your favorite Surface device that you wish to buy? Please give your feedback and suggestions in the comment section.
